CBD Isolate vs. Full Spectrum Oil

Pure CBD Isolate

If you’ve heard of the restorative benefits of Cannabidiol (CBD), you’ve probably heard mention of full spectrum oils – but what is it? Why wouldn’t you simply isolate CBD to it’s purest form?

Let’s start with a basic understanding of the differences between CBD isolate and full spectrum CBD oil.

What is CBD Isolate?

Cannabidiol (CBD) can be isolated to 99.99% purity from extracted oils to produce a fine powder that can crystallize in certain conditions. This high medical grade purity removes THC, other cannabinoids, fats, lipids, chlorophyll and terpenes from the original plant matter extract.

What is Full Spectrum CBD Oil?

Commonly known as FSE (Full Spectrum Extract), full spectrum CBD oil contains various cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and fatty acids found in hemp to provide what’s commonly known as the “entourage effect”. Our CO2 extracted full spectrum base oils are distilled and winterized to remove fats, lipids and chlorophyll for this purest starting quality possible.

The “Entourage Effect”

Commonly known as synergy, the entourage effect refers to the typically increased effectiveness of full spectrum CBD oils that are rich in other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and more. Because CBD doesn’t work directly on the CB1 and CB2 receptors, the small amounts of other cannabinoids such as CBG and trace amounts of THC (under the allowable 0.3%) can have an increased effect on symptom relief, as they more succesfully antagonize the human endocannabinoid system (ECS).

In addition, terpenes can provide their own therapeutic effect, with some such as caryophyllene-oxide being known as phytocannabinoids. As the name suggests, phytocannabinoids can have a similar effect on the ECS as cannabinoids and further aid in inflammation reduction, pain management, anxiety control and sleep aid.

Customer Choice

We strongly believe in the therapeutic benefits of CBD and encourage our customers who can use products with minor amounts of THC in them to try our full spectrum products for the most effectiveness.

As we understand that many situations don’t allow for the use of products with the legally acceptable amount of THC (<0.3%), we also offer CBD isolate base products to help the body restore homeostasis and increase the production of human endocannabinoids such as anandamide and 2-AG.
